Measles outbreak declared on Merseyside

A measles outbreak has been declared on Merseyside. There are 13 confirmed and 16 suspected cases ranging in age from nine months to adults aged in their 20s. Six people, four children and two adults, required treatment in hospital. This compares to just one confirmed case on Merseyside in the first six weeks of 2011 and one in the corresponding period of 2010.

Update on Legionnaires’ Cluster Associated with a Hotel in Spain

10 February 2012, 1400hrs. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has this week been alerted by the Spanish public health authorities about a further case of Legionnaires’ Disease in a UK resident who stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe, Costa Blanca, as well as two French cases. This brings the total number of UK residents associated with this cluster to 12, with three deaths.

There are three ways to order repeat prescriptions:

pills 1. Use the repeat medical request form issued with prescriptions and put a tick beside the item(s) you need. Put this form into the collection box in the surgery or post it to us. (If you would like to have a prescription posted back to you, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.)

2. Use the telephone answering/recording machine on 028 9065 4018 (option 2) available 24 hours. This is for repeat medication requests only, so please do not use this for other requests or messages.

3. By Clicking on the link above and filling in our online form.

Please allow 48 working hours before collecting your prescription.

Repeat Prescription Collection Service
The practice operates a repeat prescription collection service, whereby, your nominated pharmacist collects the prescription which can then be obtained from the phamacy. Please allow 72 working hours after ordering. Please ask at reception for further details and to obtain an authorisation form (one for each person).

Medication for other members of the family
Please do not request medication for other members of your family while consulting about yourself.
